Open-Architecture for Ocean Science and Marine Robotics Research

The Spurdog is an AUV platform developed at MIT intended to support research and development in the maritime domain. It has been designed to be easily reproduced and extended by partner institutions as simply as possible. Hardware designs, software, and deployment configurations are shared with approved U.S. research partners. Partners outside the U.S. may also be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Open Hardware

Full CAD, bill of materials, and manufacturing documentation available to approved partners. Build your own or modify the design for your research needs.

MOOS-IvP Autonomy

Built on the MOOS-IvP autonomous vehicle framework. Vehicle configurations, behaviors, and mission files are provided and documented.

Partner Network

Collaborate with national labs and universities across the U.S. Share field experience, troubleshoot together, and contribute improvements back to the platform.
